Basically Cards was designed to be a modern alternative to the everyday, tired holiday cards we all have to endure each year. Cards came in over 25 pre-designed templates, allowing for you to customize all the text, colors, and (obviously) your own photos. Orders were then hand perfected before shipped to you.

Ruby on Rails was the technology of choice, allowing for quick time-to-market (we didn't get started until right before the 2006 holiday season), flexibility to iterative changes to the scope, and AJAX simplicity which we used for all the card customizations.
